Ok, request help locating book - no title, no author. Plot as follows:
Book centers around a planet/culture of mercenaries. Planet is known for it's mercs, it's only export, but not much known about the culture other than the mercs. A "reporter" from somewhere requests permission to embed with a group of mercs being dispatched to an uprising on another planet, a very hot, tropical world. The reporter trains with the mercs, accompanies them during battle, etc. Mostly ground battle, very detailed, jungle-type warfare? Becomes very good friends with the squad he's with. Reincarnation theme very strong towards end of book. "War as play" might be a recognizeable concept.
