I can't believe there is no topic about this movie! I went to the theater with mid-to-low expectations, considering it's a Disney production, but was really pleasantly surprised. It's definitely one of the best movies of the year. Which isn't hard, considering it was a terrible year, but it's still good.

Is it as good as the original? (I loved the original with the whole User/program analogy for spirituality)

I'm just worried it's a "popcorn" flick that doesn't really have an underlying theme or story....

EDIT: Judging by the reviews, he hasn't really been well received (which shouldn't mean much)-Tron for many I think is polarizing: Either they really enjoyed the original with the Spirituality sub text and the overall story, or they thought it was eye candy and rather poor in its execution.

I'm the former :)

I have always been a fan of the original - I have the DVD. I have not yet seen Legacy but the previews look utterly fantastic! The original also had a couple places where humor was interjected which, in my opinion, makes even a serious movie more enjoyable. (Remember Flynn stamping his foot on various controls inside the recognizer as it fell into a digital canyon while bit kept saying NO...NO...NO...NO...NO.) Loved it!

I don't think Legacy has any underlying themes. It's a pop-corn movie, just a very well executed one.

I am busting a boiler to see this. Loved the original, I was with some friends who wanted to go see a porn flick, I went to see Tron!! I haven't lived that one down but I think I got the better deal.

And I soooooo want this:

Oh, and I have heard reviews that say the storyline is a bit meh, but that the whole feel and execution is worth it. BRING IT TRON! sorry :-P

Saw it yesterday - LOVED IT! Of course I'm a sucker for really cool special effects. The storyline may have some issues but the special effects were awesome. Truth be known - I think I would love a movie that had a horrible storyline if the special effects were great. If they had stuck a bit more to the way the original was structured as far as the interplay between programs and users it would have made things better. But, what the heck, I still enjoyed it.

I agree with above... Popcorn flick but well executed. We watched it at our local IMAX theatre and it looked great. I also thought the soundtrack was well integrated into the film, giving it the right feel.

I enjoyed Tron Legacy and probably going to go see it again tonight with a friend that is home from Iraq.

Overall, I give it a B+

The visuals are amazing, the soundtrack done by Daft Punk is well constructed (kind of wish Robot Rock was somewhere in the flick), and it is acted well enough. It is nice to see Jeff Bridges act out the computer version of The Big Lebowski.

I agree it is a very good popcorn movie, and it does take the source material of the first Tron to a next step.

The story is a little weak for me, with a few plot holes I noticed, but so did the first one. If you liked the first Tron, I do think you will really like this one.

I say if you are going to see it, see it in the theater with a killer sound system.

I really enjoyed TRON in 3D last week. The visuals were stunning and I thought the story and acting was good also. The vibe of the movie is what got me - the music was so unexpected but perfect. Would definitely see it again!

Whats the deal with the necklace at the end??? Sequel, anyone?
