Since I've been reading nothing but Star Trek/Sci-Fi/Fantasy books for the last few years I think I'm burned out on that for awhile. So I went to the library and picked up a Jackie Collins trashy romance book. Do any of you read something different for a change?? Just wondering what other stuff you read.

Yes - this came up in a forum thread a while back, I think. It's often good to read other books even if it's only to realise how good the other stuff was. :)

I've been known to read historical stuff, detective stuff and 'the classics' as well as the odd family drama. But then again, I will read anything if its there.....

It happened for me too, I am reading Jane Austen now until I'll get tired of perfect Victorian girls and go back to fantasy :)

Like the others, I go with the classics, most notably Steinbeck, but alas, I'm almost through everything of his with only the Grapes of Wrath to go (saving the best for last) :)

I rea just as much fiction and Mystery novels as I do fantasy and sci-fi. I get tired of anything if it's all I read.

I tended to go for mythology, history and hard science when I get tired of fantasy and sci-fi

Yeah, you definately gotta give fantasy/scifi a break now and then and read something else. Usually, I read whatever tickles my fancy at the time. Sometimes, just not reading anything for a week or two is good thing to do in order to reinvigorate things. ;)

Between fantasy by David Eddings I read non-fantasy by David Eddings, like "The Losers":D

I like something completely different too and tend to go for biogs. My last mad break from Fantasy/Horror resulted in two weeks of biog binge including Mick Foley's two books (superb sense of humour and intelligence from Mankind), Tarmac Warrior by Billy Cribb and Nigel Benn's Dark Destroyer.

The other day I read Stephen King's 'On Writing' What a great book. For anyone involved in the craft, which I assume is most of you, it makes intriguing reading. I learnt a lot.
