From the 1970's...

I'm looking for the title or author of a book I read in the mid 1970's.

The residents of a high rise wander the halls at night looking for open doors
which are invitations to come in for sex.

Cover art was black and white.

Ring any bells? TIA.

Could the book you are looking for be J.G.Ballard's 'High Rise' ? It's from the 1970s and has a lot of 'hanky-panky'.

Thank you for responding.

High Rise came up the most in my searching, but after reading some excerpts, it isn't the one.

I don't remember the plot really (that's one of the reasons I want to reread),
but it doesn't have the violence of High Rise.

What about "The World Inside" by Robert Silverberg?
