New Idea

I've had an idea that I think is pretty cool but one man's cool is another man's cack.

So here it is:

I have been watching this forum for a lot longer than my 50 posts suggests and the reason I registered is because I respect a lot of the opinions of the contributors here.

I often try and find stories at SFFWORLD written by the members but it is very hard unless that member promotes their story in a thread or the link in their profile links to a story here or elsewhere.

How about we create a thread called 'Member's Stories'. Members who have stories posted at SFFWORLD post the name of their story, their author name and a direct link to that story. After a member has placed this post they also create a thread called '(name of author)'s reviews'.

Members have a look at the 'Members Stories' thread and use it to link to and read the stories. They can then go to the specific author's thread to post constructive critiscism (spelling?)

Mods, let me know if this allowed, Members let me know if you think this is a good idea.

Thanks

Sounds like a great idea, so please go ahead :) Should probably use the Writing forum for this though, or what do you think Erebus?

It would be a very good idea, contrary to how it must appear I really don't have that much on-line time and would be much happy reviewing stories written by people I get along with than complete strangers.

I know a lot of folk use the writing forum for this anyway but at the very least it would be nice to know which pen-name belongs to which user...

It would also be quite nice if when posting your link, you give a brief introduction to the tale.

OK I have got the ball rolling. See Member's Stories thread in the Writing Forum for the first post... Mine tee hee:)

Add your own link but don't forget to create an '(author's name)'s Reviews' thread so people can give you feedback.

I hope it works

Yep, good idea indeed, but yes, the Writing section would be better suited for this I feel.:)

I have an idea good for any section that Dag should definatly consider. We should be able to upload images from our computer instead of all the 'from another website' fuss! It has nearly drivin me mad... all tose little boxes with red x's... I'm going to start have nightmares about armies of them soon. Please Dag! Consider this option! :(

Hey, I like those broken image links :).

Technically it's actually quite easy to make it possible to upload attachments with the posts, but there are several reasons why I won't do it. First of all there's always the diskspace issue, and at the moment that's very much a real issue. Second there's a lot of legal issues involved that I would imagine the moderators would have to use a considerable time handling, copyrights and so on...

So, I'm sorry to say that it's a no can do (for now at least).
