I wanted to see what you guys thought of Eyes of Silver By Michael Stackpole.
I personally thought that this was one of the better of his books in the creative aspects. I really liked the more modern feel of Stackpole's novels and this one was one of the most modern. Especially with the airships and steam engines, that definately was a little bit different than the standard middle age fantasy story. I admit the plot was hard to get into until you were about a hundred pages into it, but after that the book flew along. I really liked how well the characters were fleshed out. I would like to see maybe Stackpole writing in this world again. With all of the world background and history installed in this world, it would be a shame for him to write only one story in it. But Stackpole usually creates a world and magic system, writes a novel or two then moves on to a new world. Which shows a certain creative touch to his personality. He is not like Jordan, Goodkind, Brooks, Feist, who start with a good world then drag it down by writing story after story in it.
So what did you all think about this book? Shef I know you want to answer.

Killer Chicken. I need your expertise on Chickens!
Is it true that the fast food chain KFC is abbreviated because by legal laws they cannot call themselves Kentucky Fried Chicken due to the fact that they do not produce chickens but mass produced clone chicken-lookalikes?

Well, that is only half true. The KFC chickens are the weak chickens. The strong chickens are saved for gourmet restaurants throughout the world. But the strong chickens were offended by being called the same as the weak fast food chickens. So they decided that the strong chickens should be called chickens, meaning them, and the weak ones are left nameless, therefore ruining the name Kentucky Fried Chicken.
And us Killer Chickens, we are the most superior of all.
Actually Belgarion, I have no idea, but yeah, that sounds good.
Anyway, what are your thoughts on Eyes of Silver? Anyone read this book other than me?

Oh, yeah. I personally think Stackpole is one of the best damned writers in either sci-fi or fantasy. He does characters and personalities better than anyone else I have read. Definitely worth a 1st, 2nd and 3rd look. . .

Eyes of Silver is an exellent book their are good arguments for it being the best Stackpole. It caught me by surprise when I first read it the whole christiam/moslem conflict was not something I was expecting from him. I would realy like to see more books from this world as well infact I would love to see sequals to all of Stackpole books.

Yeah Sammie, I think that you should definately read some Stackpole. I would start with Talion: Revenant or Once a Hero. Both are excellent reads. But Stackpole is a very good author, definately one of the best. He does characters well, and he is the best author that I have read when writing fight scenes in Sci-fi or fantasy.

Heh heh, how weird. I was looking at an Urban Myth Website the other day and it tackled this very issue.
The CEO of KFC made quite a damning statement in response to this urban myth.
Basically, they changed to KFC because they felt their target markets were too 'thick' to handle a brand as long as Kentucky Fried Chicken so abbreviated it to KFC. How insulting!!! Another Ratner I feel.:D
