I figured it's about time to have a 'Reading in August' thread, just to continue the tradition...
So, to start it all off, my current books are:
- Perdido Street Station
- Sailing to Sarantium (my "bus book")
And quite frankly, I'd have to say that I'm getting annoyed with my slow reading pace (which is probably not slow by the standard of some, but is frustrating me endlessly). I read about all these great books here on the forum, and don't think I'll ever get around to reading them all. I know that there was (many moons ago) an entire thread devoted to this issue, but I just had to vent.

I'm just getting towards the end of "Knights Dawn" by Kim Hunter and i'm struggling. Anyone know if the second one improves?

Right now I'm reading The Silmarillion, and enjoying it--it's not your typical novel but beautifully written.
Next, I might get around to reading Pullman's Dark Materials trilogy, which has been sitting on my shelf for many months.
Or maybe Unfinished Tales by Tolkien. Haven't decided yet.

I’m a few chapters away from the end of The Second Chronicles of Thomas Covenant and am thinking about picking up the first of The Chronicles of the Raven by James Barclay (more chronicles :p).
I’m after something a little "lighter" this time around - are Barclay’s chronicles a good choice?

About 100 pages from the end of Deadhouse Gates.
It looks like Eyes of God by Marco will be next after that unles Memories of Ice or Fools Errand are imminent releases in Australia.

Eventine, "Memories of Ice" is available in Australia in Trade paperback. I guess you mean just paperback.

Yep, I try to keep all of my series in the same size.
I've ruined this with Wars of Light and Shadow though...
It does make for an agonizing wait between the hardcover/trade paperback release and finally reading the book.
I also find trade paperbacks a little harder to hold when I am reading.

The trade paperback of Memories of Ice is over 900 pages... I can just imagine what the mass market paperback will be like! (his 2 previous massmarkets were 250+ pages more than the trades!)
I would have started this topic this afternoon, but since I probably won't be reading any fantasy novels this month, it would have been pointless :)
I'm not on the 3rd book of the X-Wing series. It will probably take me the rest of the month to read all 9.

I have got a load of Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Angel novels that I got second hand most by Mel Odem that I think I will have time to read this month.
