Russian SF novel?

It's supposed to be a Russian SF or East Europe novel and older written in 60's or 50's or even before. It's about a boy who gets really sick and scientists manage to cure him but because of it he must live in water for the rest of his life.
Anyone knows what novel this might be? There is also maybe a Russian movie made based on this story.
