MOD NOTE: WARNING! THIS THREAD CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR BOTH MOVIES AND BOOKS!

~Erebus~

We've talked about great books, bad books, bad movies adaptations, acceptable movie adaptations (no great ones, except maybe LOTR):) and books that were hard to read.

But... What is/are some of the best twists, shockers or plot developments that you have come across in books or movies?

For me:

Book: Survivor (Herbert)
Movie: Matrix, the human battery revelation had me looking around the theatre to check other people were seeing what I was seeing. I also had to check my watch to make sure we really were only half-way through the movie.

Shawshank Redemption was awesome too.

The new Bruce Willis movie Hart's War has a great twist too.

:D

I agree with the Sixth Sense one. I was shocked at the end!

Shawshank redemption is a great one too. But never has a shock at the end of a movie made me so happy! I love that movie.

And the Matrix too...I guess you guys have already named the good movies. I just watched Collateral Damage the other night (with Schwartzenegger) and there was a pretty big suprise in the end, but it wouldn't qualify as top ten or anything.

For books, there were some great suprises at the end of Memory, Sorrow and Thorn--the kind that make you go, "Oh my god, that's so great!" I love books with endings like that.

There were also some crazy revelations at the end of Williams' Otherland series. But those were more like "Oh, my god, that's so weird!" Still suprising though. I don't want to say too much because I know some people on here are reading those books right now.

Can't think of anything else at the moment.

When I got around to watching the Sixth Sense I already knew the story, so it kind of spoiled it for me.

As I'm a Martin fan I've got to say the Red Wedding aswell.

I have to say fight Club would be one of the best plot twists I have seen mainly because I didn't pick it coming
I got Sixth sense ,I got The Others , I always pick it before it happens but The Fight Club was a complete shock to me.
I also agree about the Matrix , it still spins me out to think about it!!!

Another plot twist that really affected me ,even though it was predictable, was in Life Is Beautiful, that had a lot of power .
