The best books that I have ever read are the Shannara books. The best one of them all to me is The Wishsong. That was an incredible epic story! I have so much fun when I read. It's like I enter a different world when I read.:)

Wishsong was trully great book. I have to read his next saga - "Heritage of Shannara". As allanon says it's his best saga...

"The First King of Shannara" is the best IMHO. It was full with action, and emotionally strong also.
"The Wishsong" and "The Elfstones" are also very good.
"Talismans of Shannara" is spectacular final to the "Heritage".

I've just finished reading the second part of the voyage of Jerle Shannara. It's a good read especially the fact that fantasy meets science. The battle of Walker Boh vs Antrax, the computer is worth reading also the androids who give the book an extra dimension.
A minor point in the Shannara series is imo the always returning of the same kind of charcaters. There isn't any difference between the Leah in the Sword of Shannara and the Leah guy in Antrax. Also Walker Boh = Allanon and Bek = Shea = Wil = Par.
But I still love the series :)

Shimrod,
I thought that was the point of Terry Brooks.
He loves the idea of creating stories on the same land and going through generations and scions of the same family trees.
It is deliberate and refreshing!
I for one, enjoy this kind of storytelling. It gives you this kind of Nostaglia feeling.

Brooks is not exactly the best fantasy writer. Not the worst either. Better than NoGoodkind.

Yes, NoGoodkind indeed. My disdain for his writing has been documented in the past.
Both Terry's aren't particularly original in their plots etc.
However, Brooks at least has a better than average storytelling ability, Shannara is a pretty well developed world, even if some of the elements are rather familiar and borrowed from other fantasies.
