What do you look for in a book?Good characters, good plot, surprises, ect. ???:D

Hey, c'mon you guys, Giroth asked a serious question. Take it to the pub or s'where, yeah?

Giroth, did you check out THIS (http://www.sffworld.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3030) thread? It's fantasy orientated, but definitely in the same direction as your question.

Personally, any book i read needs either an interesting/exciting plot or a very high quality writing style/style of prose to hold my attention. If it has both, then all the bettter :).

That is unless it's a good medical textbook, those she curles up in bed with for hours upon hours of pleasureful reading...:D :D :D
