I am planning on reading Ender's Game and thought i'd check out what the other books in the series were first. I've checked some old threads and some web sites but i just can't figure it out - could someone clear up for me what the other books are and what order they go in?
Thanks, Nac

5.) Enders Shadow
6.) Shadow of the Hegemon
7.) Shadow Puppets(due for release within the next three weeks)
I have to say that 5 & 6 are brilliant pieces much closer To Enders Game than 2,3 & 4 were. Enjoy

Personally, I haven't read any others than Ender's Game and that didn't stop me enjoying what is a brilliant book.
My advice would be, read it and then decide if you want to read more...

It will become obvious if hasn't already that I am one of those nutters standing on the corner of the street screaming "The end is nigh" only my invocation is "You must read all Orson Scott Card's books". Can I just ask NOM why you didn't follow up by reading the sequels? Oh can I also suggest the Earthborn series, bit strange but excellent, and the Tales of Alvin which is exceptionally clever and brilliantly written in terms of characterisation. Seriously NOM, Card's characterisation is a level above even yours, may be worth checking them out if you haven't already ;)

Some people say Speaker for the Dead is better than Enders Game. I would not say that though Speaker is good. Speaker and the rest of the series (next 2 books) are different than Enders Game.

I read Ender's Game a very long time ago and, like Nom, I haven't read any of the sequels. Because the first was so excellent, and because I already had my own ideas about what happened afterward (I didn't know that there would be sequels), I never had any desire to read the later books. Maybe I will someday, but I almost feel like reading the sequels will in some way ruin the first one for me. Has anyone else ever felt like this? The only other time I can recall was when the sequel to Gone With the Wind came out--a book I will never read.
And Kater, I agree about Card's other series...I'm reading The Call of Earth right now. Do you have any info on when he might be publishing the next Alvin Maker book?

Well, Kater, Ladijen has almost answered for me. Actually, when I read Ender's Game, I didn't know there were any others as the book was handed to me by a friend as a 'must read now' and so I did.
I probably will look at others in the series sometime but I'm trying to get through a huge stack of novels and most of them are by authors I haven't even tried yet.
I guess Card, with his admittedly excellent style and characterisation will have to wait...

I've read Ender's Game, and loved it. My boyfriend and I have the entire series, and while he's read them all, I have yet to. I'm in the process of moving into a permanent home (completion date? hopefully Oct. 1), so I have maybe 15 books on me, but once I reach that date, I'm having all of my belongings shipped to me, and hopefully can complete the entire series. I do, however, have Speaker for the Dead on me now, so I'm planning to read that once I finish Bedlam's Bard (Mercedes Lackey and Ellen Guon). My boyfriend claims that it's even better than Ender's Game, so I shall see.
Speaking of Ender's Game, there's a fantastic short story by Michael Swanwick, "Under's Game" in David Hartwell's Year's Best SF 7 anthology, parodying it. I highly recommend reading it.
