I just finished reading Darwin's Radio by Greg Bear and I must say, it was pretty good. The characters were just meh but, like most of Bear's work, the concepts are very intriguing. It's very much a novel dealing with biology, so those looking for similarities with the Eon series may be somewhat disappointed. While it deals with what appears to be a virus, the book does manage to avoid feeling like one of those generic medical thriller bestsellers (this being a good thing in my opinon http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif). There's a fair amount of what seems to be fairly heady biotalk but I know virtually nothing about it, and I managed to puzzle it out.
