"Baseball! A man stands alone at the plate. This is the time for what? For individual achievement. There he stands alone. But in the field, what? Part of a team. Teamwork. Looks, throws, catches, hustles. Part of one big team. Bats himself the live-long day, Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, and so on. If his team don't field, what is he? You follow me? No one. Sunny day, the stands are full of fans. What does he have to say? I'm goin' out there for myself. But, I get nowhere unless the team wins."
And with that, my friends, the theme for this month's contest is:
TEAMWORK

This and the end of Goodfellas is why I stopped watching mob movies.
How come the mob never has lockouts?

Great focus for this month. I'm up to my eyeballs in end-of-year (school year) initiatives and research at work--will try to squeeze something in one of these weekends.

Yep, good theme. I've got a few ideas bouncing around up there.
Work just got crazy, so I'll have to see how this month pans out, but I'd like to get something in!

Teamwork... and all that comes to mind is the old computer game lemmings...

There's no 'I' in 'Team'...But there is 'me' (and 'meat', 'tea', 'eat', 'met', 'ate', 'mate', 'tame' and 'meta').

What he said. And the first thing that came to mind was Joe Abercrombie's The Fool Jobs, a short story found in the Swords & Dark Magic anthology. Fantastic little story it is, too.

Every month I tell myself, "I'll be patient and wait and let good ideas come to me". You know, instead of just jotting down the first story that comes to mind, but I guess that's me. It's kind of refreshing as opposed to my constant work on-and-off a proper, long story. The freedom of just ... flashing - is appealling.

In order to preserve the domestic tranquility, I should mention that it was my wife who came up with the idea for the theme. The Untouchables riff was all my idea though. :)
