Hiya,

I just wanted to get peoples opinions on a couple of new authors that have brought out books recently. The first is Kim Hunter and the Red Pavilion series (only read first two, not sure if the third is out yet). I really enjoyed these books, the hero actually has a few faults and isn't totally invincible, while the plot isn't so bogged down that you lode interest. The other is Michael Cobley with the Shadowkings trilogy (only the first one out as far as I know). I have just started to read the first book and it seems to be another good read.

What do people think (no spoilers please)? Are there any other new authors out there that people would recomend?

I've only read the first Kim Hunter book and well it was a struggle for me to finish it. To simple. No depth. I guess it just lacks the polish of a really good author.

A wee bit harsh, but honest. Yes they are a little shallow on the plot front, but after you've waded through the WoT and GoT you need a little light reading just to remind you that there are simpler realms out the that don't need a degree to follow. ;)
