Can somebody tell me in what order Salvatore's books (excluding those not published under TSR/Wizards) go. I just started reading Dissolution (yes, I know Salvatore is not writing the series it sets off, but he is the one behind it in terms of the drow hierarchy etc.) and I haven't read anything in the Drizzt series (to put it generally, although Dissolution is not part of it, I know) since The Silent Blade. I know Sea of Swords was released last year, but I think I'm missing one or two.
On a related note - anyone care to refresh my memory on who was killed and which Houses in Menzoberranzan realigned in what way after Siege of Darkness? ;) As I recall, most of the powerful characters from the Dark Elf series etc. were killed off. It's been so long ... TSR should release an updated box set of the city after War of the Spider Queen is done. Thanks all ~

You indeed missed two books:
The Silent Blade and Servant of the Shard
And The Thousend Orcs will be published in October, starting the Hunters Blade-Trilogy, again featuring Drizzt Do'Urden.
Aaand there will be something new by TSR/WotC called 'City of the Spider Queen'. I think it is an adventure tied to Salvatore's 'War of the Spider Queen' . . . anyway, I can't remember who was killed either - and honestly I lost interest after Silent Blade. Maybe I will try Thousand Orcs, just because of Drizzt as sole main character. We will see . . .

What about The Spine of the World - or was that a stand-alone? Or am I thinking of something else ...

There are quite alot of books with Drizzt and the dark elves in.
Dark Elf trilogy: Homeland, Exile and Sojourn - these are about Drizzts early years in Menzoberranzan and how he comes to the surface world.
Icewind Dale trilogy: Crystal Shard, Streams of Silver and ????:-the 1st book was the first one to feature Drizzt and the trilogy is pretty good.
Legacy of the drow quintet: Four more books with more battles alot more Drow.
Silent Blade - no drizzt but features wulfgar
Spine of the world - Wulfgar again
Servant of the shard - about drizzts main enemy - Artemis Entreri
Sea of swords -
A new series starting with 1000 orcs.
Hope this helped though ive probably forgotten a few. I thought the Dark elf trilogy and the icewind dale trilogy were the best. Not great plots but lots of action.

Sorry, Meraxes, I messed up. I wanted to write 'The Spine of the World' not 'The Silent Blade'. :(
If you want a complete list of R.A. Salvatore's books, just take a look at his homepage. www.rasalvatore.com
I think the Dark Elf Saga is the best.

Don't forget the Cleric Quintet.. okay it does not feature Drizzt, but it is a good read nevertheless... especialy the funny antics of the twe Dwarven brothers. In fact it is lighter all round than the Drizzt books.
1. Canticle
2. In Sylvan Shadows
3. Night Mask
4. The Fallen Fortress
5. The Chaos Curse
The tales revolves around the cleric Cadderly, and his attemps to put right a situation he was unwittingly duped into causing.

Thanks guys. I've read all of his books except Spine, Servant, and Sea. I became somewhat disinterested after The Silent Blade and quit, as Wulfgar and Co were never what interested me in the first place, though I may need to get Servant of the Shard if Entreri is in it - and Jarlaxle, it seems. I recently picked up War of the Spider Queen by Richard Byers (sp?) and had wondered if Salvatore had written any further dark elf material in the interim that led up to Byers' novel. So far, btw, 'War' is pretty good ... just have a dictionary handy. :)

Have read every Drizzt story to date, and feel, after Sea of Swords, that I have read enough Drizzt. In Sea, the only character who was generating any new interest to me was Regis, with his flirting with danger.
Wulfgar's redemption story was pretty good, but it felt like Salvatore really ... d...r...a...g...g...e...d it out in this book. I don't think I will be reading the thousand orcs (hasn't he killed more than that already? sheesh) unless I get downright loopy waiting for the next Martin book (which is already happening, to stave off my desperation I've read in the last month the last 3 Dune books, Tigana, American Gods and Good Omens, recently started the driver's handbook out of pure desperation, I need to get back to my Chapter's in Ottawa).
