I am trying to remember the title of a book I read several years ago and am hoping someone can help . . . the book's protagonist was (I believe) a Native American, or part-Native, woman - or, possibly, a woman who lived on or near a reservation; an alien ambassador (or two) arrive on Earth and one of them works with the woman to get his message out. I don't remember the central conflict of the book, but I do remember that at some point in the story more aliens arrive and they "remove" the city of Jerusalem, leaving a large crater behind. Inscribed in hundreds of languages around the rim of the crater is a phrase something like "you can have it back when you can all get along". At the end of the book, the alien ambassador chooses to remain on Earth and marries (?) the protagonist.
