I just rented this french film called VIDOQ. It stars Gerard Depardieu. It takes place in Paris, I think just after the revolution. The plot is about some sort of phantom that is killing people and Vidoq(Depardieu) is investigating the case. I really liked this movie although it has a made for TV feel. Has anyone else seen it? If so, what is your opinion?

Vidocq was among the movies of the 'Fantasy Filmfest' here in Germany.
So I saw it at the cinema - and it definitely has not a 'made for tv feel' when you see it on big screen. It has very fascinating pictures and has the french style as I would call it (similar in Amelie and Brotherhood of Wolves) - with those movies my respect for french filmmakers grew immensely.

What else can I say about this extremely good movie? Good story, good characters, good effects - I enjoyed this movie most of all the movies I watched at the festival (sadly only six) even though it was shown in the original language with English subtitles and an enormous head two rows in front of me.

Now I am desparate for the DVD and the movie score. :)
