First of all, thanks for the kind words and votes in last month's contest! Now, on with the next one.

You will have until midnight US Eastern time on August 27th to enter a story of no more than 1000 words on the following theme:

A long walk

Please post your story in the Stories sub-forum and place a link to it in this thread. Comments and feedback are always appreciated.

Good luck!

I like it! First thing that springs to mind is The Long Walk by Stephen King/Bachman.

I'll see what I can come up with.

For once I knew exactly where I was going as soon as I saw the theme! Congrats again, Rich, and I'll try to get my story up this week.

Circle's End (http://www.sffworld.com/forums/showthread.php?p=654120#post654120) by me. I'm sure it will get ripped to shreds, lol, but I like being vague. Sorry :D

Hmmm, struggling with this a little, I'll probably be a fairly late entery. Plus I'm working on something for the short story so this will likely be on the back burner.

Welp, that didn't work. Going to try the same concept from a different angle.

Ha! Me, too...it's only just this afternoon that I think I've finally got a handle on what to do with the FF.

I blame it on coming back from summer vacation and not writing at all during that time. Now it's just so tough getting back into the groove.

Summer doldrums or something....

Working on something that's actually a sequel to an earlier flash fiction entry. Once I thought about it, it made perfect sense.

Well, I was going to enter this, but my flash fiction story doesn't fit that theme. I never worked well with confined parameters. My brain doesn't work that way. I write whenever inspiration hits; so if something about a "long walk" hits me before the 27th, I'll join.

Nick

PS: Hoping September has no theme, or matches my theme. ;-)

I'm afraid this one may have lost something in the cutting to 1000 words, but here it is nevertheless.
