I made this thread so people who have not read all the books yet in the series can talk about Wheel of Time. Don't give away anything and every time you post state the current book you are on. I (personally) am on The Lord of Chaos.Have fun!

Hey Nero, I personally quit on The Lord of Chaos. I hope you like them better than I did.

Chicken, I know what you mean about Lord of Chaos, but I've spent so much time with WoT that I feel like I should finish them. I mean, you've got to be at least a little curious as to how the Last Battle will go.

Yeah, I am a little curious and when the series is done, I'll probably get them and read them. But until then I don't have the time to waste reading them, and rereading them when a new book comes out. So I'm saving myself the trouble.

They do take quite a while to read. Sometime's I just feel like skimming it, and, sadly, sometimes I do. Most of the stuff they talk about is just a repetition of stuff they said before. "The Dragon must fight in Tarmon Gai'don" blah blah blah. Zzzzzzz.

Wait till the series is finished, buy them all, and take a month off and read them!!

That is my advice to anyone and everyone. Personally, I loved them all, though some more than others. But I truly thought they were all great.

There are enough die-hards out there to drive book sales. If you havent read them yet, wait till the series is done.

Uh-oh - too late, someguy! I am just nearing the end of bk 1!

Enjoying it, but have a question: When i mentioned that it was a bit Lord-of-the-Rings-esque, Caldazar (i think) said that there's actually a direct reference to Tolkien near the beginning somewhere-ish. I failed to notice one - anyone want to point it out to me?? :)

Sammie just starting too? Hmm...has it been a lean season in fantasy for you guys now to finally start on WoT, something you guys seem to have been putting off?

It will be interesting to see how those prominent members of ours of the illustrious sex will weigh in on this series and how they will compare it to Martin's Sword of Ice and Fire which had more bleakness but less chatter. :)

Sammie, as the books go along, you'll actually notice that the series is not very Lord of the Rings-esque. It's much more religious, in my opinion.

*Slight Spoiler*

It follows Revelations in the Bible exactly, about how Jesus is supposed to come back and unite everyone and kill Satin, which is in this case Rand Al'thor, a ressurection of Lews Therin Telamon. (Sorry to all the Jews in this forum, I don't mean to be racist about religion or anything.)
I have a prediction to this series. In the books they say that Lews Therin had a love named Ilyena. One of the girls (esp. Egwene, Elayne, Nynaeve, Min) may turn out to be a ressurection of Ilyena. Just a thought! :)

But who will Loial marry????? Hmmmmmm...............

I stopped reading the series after I read Path of Daggers(I think). Oddly enough I read them all in about a month and a half. Even at it's lowest points(which have gotten numerous), they are still tough to put down. I tried reading Winter's heart but the early scene with the sea folk women, and the knitting circle, and the Aes Sedai was frankly too much.

I will eventually read them all but I think I'm with the chicken on this one. I'm going to wait till they're all written and then pick them up again.

I would still say that the series is definetely worth reading as it is quickly becoming a reference point for comparison in the fantasy world.

P.S. I really enjoy Mat in the series. I hate it when he gets left out of a book. Why don't they leave Rand out of a book or two? At the very least leave Nynaeve out.
