What I found surprising is that everywhere in the text there are hints to misterious events happened in the past, leading me to believe this must be the second novel of a series - yet I couldnt find it.
Do you have any hints?

The book is the (sort of since he wrote a literary short novel/novella) debut of the author and was a big time favorite last year when I reviewed it on Fantasy Book Critic. I heard that another book in that milieu is planned but the author was working on it so it's unclear when it will be out.
