Newbie Needs Help!

Hey everyone.
I'm pretty new to this forum, but I'm liking it a lot so far. I thought that any help/info might be nice. Who are the main users? Who are all of you? Are their other threads that could let me know? And what are some of the most interesting threads going on right now...? I'm 23, male, just graduated university, maintain a social life, and usually still find time for Fantasy. Throughout university, it was the one thing that kept me SANE in the face of the thousands of textbooks I had to read. I think of it as my version of TV (because most actual TV sucks!). Also, I'm in Vancouver, Canada. Anyone out there feel like sharing something...? Let's talk :)

Welcome Elendil. I'm 20, male from Perth, Australia. A good indicator of frequent users is the post count, though some newbies make instant impacts.

The Fantasy forum is great. Also the Writing forum is informative, even if you don't write. When someone posts in a thread, the thread goes to the top as teh latest, so just check out some of the most recent.

Also, start your own threads about topics you like, if none exist on the topic.

Hello Elendil:

Those are some rather tough and open-ended questions!

Main users? Lots of them. Certainly not just 3 or 4. You will get used to the big guns fast.

Who are we? There is a thread under General Discussion called 'Who are you really" (or somesuch). Check it out if you are interested.

What are the iteresting threads? Dude, there are A LOT of threads. They are all interesting to some people. Find the ones you like. I wont presume to tell you which ones are suitable for you.

Cheers,

Someguy

Hi Elendil, and welcome to the forum. :)

The Recommendation (http://www.sffworld.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3179) Sticky thread is probably worth a look, and contains many links to various threads of interest etc. After that, you may like to look at THIS (http://www.sffworld.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=281) one, which tells you who we are and why we are here!

Have fun browsing! :)

Welcome! This happens to be a great place to chat about anything to do with fantasy and science fiction, writing, social issues relating to literature, authors etc. As you probably have noticed already, the people who drop by daily are from all over the world. Many are authors or aspiring authors, and almost everyone is a reader.
It is a very congenial atmosphere, but still just about every topic, whether controversial or just informative, is discussed at some point or other if it has anything to do with books, authors, writing, publishing or reading.
Enjoy yourself. You will be very glad you found this site!
