I decided to buy one of Tad Williams' books the other day, called The Dragonbone Chair, book one of Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn. It seemed especially good. I then saw his other series, called "Otherland", and it seemed almost better. I'm still not sure if he's any good, which is where you guys come in. Is he worth my time?

Uh-oh, here I come, entering a mine field. :p
For me MST was not really worth my time. While reading it, time dragged on . . . so, I can't really recommend Tad Williams for various reasons.
Otherland sounds interesting, just like MST did. And I know a whole lot of people who love both series. So maybe, for you it will be as good as for so many others - so just try the first book.
If the books calls out for you, don't ignore it. Maybe it will be a great read - I just wanted once to say: I did not like Memory, Sorrow and Thorn! :D

As for MS&T, I've read The Dragonbone Chair and the first few chapters of Stone of Farewell. I had a hard time getting going on Dragonbone, but I was having heavy-duty migraines when I read it and was pretty brain fogged, so that was most of it. Sorting out the people and places seemed to bog me down the most. It starts slow, but by about halfway through I found myself increasingly entertained by it.
As for Otherland, I'm about halfway through book 2. These books are like nothing else I've ever read. There's a ton of stuff going on, and loads of cultural references. I think it's very richly written and detailed. My favorite of the two series is this one, so far. It seems to be most worth the while.
Though Stone of Farewell is picking up rapidly....

Well, I read MS&T one year ago, and I liked it, even though the ending is far too fast.
I just finished the last Otherland book, and I think this series is indeed worth reading! The Characters are more likeable than in MS&T, and the story is extraordinary good. The second installment is a little bit boring, it's only the bridge between 1+3, but not bad even though. My recommendation: read Otherland, Williams is more "mature" than in MS&T, I think MS&T is a beautiful read, too, but Otherland is the one!;)

I've read both MS&T and Otherland, and I enjoyed both series quite a bit, although MS&T was my favourite. (Otherland, although the story and characters are great, seemed to drag a little in the third book.)
Both series are good, so if you like to read LONG stories with lots of characters and subplots, I would go ahead and read both of them. I don't think you'll regret it.

Tad Williams as near the very top of the crop of fantasy writers today. Memory, Sorrow and Thorn, simply put is one of THE best completed Fantasy Trilogies today.
Otherland is another top notch massive novel.

I've read both series.
Otherland is in my "you must read this" list.
MS&T was OK, but I found the first book a bit slow. Overall pretty good though.
Please do yourself a favour and try Otherland.

I'll add my endorsement to Mr Williams' works! One of the top 5 contemporary Fantasy/SciFI authors.
