Gagged Man
August 23rd, 2002, 08:06 PM
Hello out there on the electronic frontier. I haven't been reading too much lately (lots of commitments to education etc.) but I was wondering if anybody could recommend a good book.

I'm looking for something with a lot of focus on the villain. In most books they're searching for power, world domination and the like but there's not much in about their past (where they came from, why they're here, any troubled times for them etc.). Basically, I'm looking for a villain with the focus normally given to the hero (hell, evil's just another perspective on things, right? We're all each other's fragments, after all).

Thanks for reading and (hopefully) replying
The Gagged Man.

Gagged Man, I am sorry I cant help you there, but you know what. That is a damn good question. It would be an interesting take on a book wouldnt it!

Robert Jordan's Wheel Of Time. He constantly flashes to all the scheming people in the world, with loads of subplots.

"DragonLance Legends".
They are focused on Raistlin and he is really well-made villain.

Thanks, I'll go out and buy some books straight away (surprisingly, I haven't read any Robert Jordan, bad me. I'll slap myself for that). Thanks for all the help, my heart warms to know that I'm loved.

I think one of the best views into the villains side of the tale was probably done by John Marco in the his Tyants and Kings series, the first book is The Jackal of Nar its a 3 book series.

There's got to be at least 30 villians in Robert Jordan's WoT, from all the Forsaken, to the False Dragons, and to the Dark One himself. My favorite Forsaken was Ishamael, but he didn't last long. ;)
