I was wondering what if any music you feel captures the spirit of your favourite fantasy novels.

Like Suzan Vega's "Solitude Standing" and Russ Ballards "Voices" always put me in mind of Simon R Green books.
and Fleetwood Mac's "Tusk" always makes me think of Legend by David Gemmel.

Has anybody else got any.

Enya's "Bodicea" captures just about every feeling fantasy can embrace. This music moves in such a way that it feels like wind, or a dream passing right through you... Everything, every pain, every gain, every kiss, every sword stroke, every victory, every loss, it eases by like lightening... When I hear it... ages of Kings and queens, mighty armies, vast legends... they all pass by with a certain same appeal... a certain cry, like a voice of hope... what keeps this world a live. I can't explain it, you have to hear it for yourself really.

Another powerful song for me was James Horners "For the love of a Princess" off the braveheart soundtrack. That music (under the right cirumstances) has put me into some serious tears. It seems to me like an ancient lament... the breath of Gods... at the passing of true passion from this world.

Lastly I'd like to mention O Fortuna (Carmina Burana) composed by Carl Orff. This peice... wow. But what kicks ass even more..!? The techno remix by Apocolyspe a famous Mix-Master... my God... This music reeks with the scents of anger, frustration.. and battle lust. The song, was written to depict fate, but I interpret it as a heart being driven to valor. Perhaps, though this is the fate of all men...

O Fortuna rocks.

DJ Visage - The Return (Time To Say Goodbye). Check this song out. It could easily double as a fantasy theme.

Tori Amos' 'Past the Mission' form 'Under the Pink' always makes me think of Margaret Atwood's Handmaid's Tale (if it counts as an SF/F book for the purpose of this thread). Don't know why but it does.

The Lonesome Boatman by The Furey's always serves to remind me of Davos the onion knight and his runs of Onions to Stannis.

Most of Led Zeppelin's slower tunes have great Fantasy vibes... Just wacth 'The Song Remains The Same' on DVD. They were all quite mad.
