I decided to begin a re-read of Fool's Errand by Robin Hobb yesterday in preparation for Golden Fool, which should be out some time later this month. The plan was to read a chapter or two each day - pace myself :)
I should have learnt my lesson the first time I read it. Once I start reading this book, I cannot put it down! My plan to time it so that I finished mid-to-late September has failed miserably, if I don't finish it off tonight, I'll do it tomorrow.
Anyway, I thought I'd start this thread (in the tapestry that is the sffworld.com forums :p) firstly, so that people have a place to throw some praise at this book/anticipate the next in the series, and also get a list of other such page-turners.
So, what are some other books that once you start reading them, you just can't stop?

When I get into a book I like there is really no stopping me. I remember enjoying the Rose of the Prophet trilogy a lot so after searching out the libraries in the city for a copy of the second book I literally walked back home reading the book. Dangerous that, now that I think about it. Of course that still doesn't compare to how I tore through The Wheel of Time when I borrowed books 1-7 from a friend during vacation. I took maybe two or three days with the first but I finished the rest by the end of the week. What's that? 6000 pages in a week? Hardly ate or got any sleep.

I felt the same way about Winter's Heart. Before I got it I kept telling myself - Don't read it all at once. Pace yourself and savor this book. - Ha! I don't know why I even tried. I absorbed this book from cover to cover. I think that's the way it is with a long anticipated book. You want to really enjoy it and take your time with it but once you get into the story you can't put it down. ;)

I only have to like the book, not even like it a lot and i'll start reading then suddenly find its 3am and i have to get up in 4 hours, i can't help it i'm addicted to reading.

Once I get past the first fifty pages or so of any fantasy novel I find it pretty much impossible to put down. I used to work in a book shop and would start reading a book on my lunchbreak. When the time came I'd take the book with me onto the shopfloor intending to read it only if it got very quiet.
Of course I'd end up reading it even while serving customers! I think for the customer's sake that it's a good thing that I no longer work in bookselling.
I always race through series too and then get mightily disappointed when I realise how long a wait there is until the next book

Dakel ,
Hobb has the very same affect on me . On the bottom of one or two of her books is written " 'Robin Hobb writes achingly well' SFX".
I fully understand this now after missing sleep etc to finish a series! (The Farseer Trilogy)Not so bad with 'The Liveship Traders', but still hard to put down .

I suffered from this a bit when reading Farseer, but heaps more reading Otherland by Williams.
At the moment I'm suffering through the wait for Fools Errand to come out in normal paperback format (I want to have all the books in the same format so they sit on the shelf nicely together...)

If I get into a good book, all i want to do is READ!!!
I averaged 400 pages a day reding WOT, up until Path of Daggers. This while working and doing other things. Every spare moment went to reading.
I am like that with any book I like. I read Red Storm Rising (Clancy, not Fantasy I know) during exams at Universtiy years ago. I finished it in a day and a half, and still managed to get good marks on my tests.
When I was younger, my parents would always say they like it when I was reading, because I would hide in my room and shut up! :)

If I am enjoying the book, there is no such thing as stopping. I couldn't pace myself with Fool's Errand either, and if Golden Fool is as good, then it'll be finished the day after I get it.
I have checked a few of the australian online book sites, but they don't have it listed yet for preorder, even though the australian publisher's site lists it for a late September release. I may have to go through amazon uk for it. *sigh*
