This is just my little a view on some of Jordan's characters from the wheel of time series.

Rand- The reluctant hero. Struggles with his identity as the savior of the world but struggles more so with his own self identity regarding his interaction with women. Potentially a borderline personality leaning on the neurotic side.

Perrin- A definite underachiever. Would find himself much more at home follwing than leading. Also suffers from some internal personality conflicts as well as tendency to be overly submisive to women(a.k.a. p-whipped)

Mat- A rather dynamic character prone to self indulgence. Perhaps the most accessible character in the series. Humorous with a good sense of self identity.

Lan- Tough character to pin down. Quiet yet dependable in his self-imposed social isolation. Occasionaly prone to erratic behavior such as falling in love with Nynaeve
for no particualr reason whatsoever. He serves conversation the way an anchor serves for propulsion. Possible sociopath.

Egwene- A spoiled brat. Thouroughly convinced of her own self superiority. Definite superiority complex. Displays an irrational disdain for all things male. Not on a hateful level so much as snooty. One would guess that her father certainly did not wear the pants in that family. Also has some issues with anger management.

and now the fun begins.....

Nynaeve= Egewne x 150% - possibly the most ridiculous character in the series.

Min= Egwene x 75% - has an uncanny knack for developing wild talents that make her nominally useful for plot developement.

Aviendha= Egwene + a tendency towards compulsive and irration behavior(Ji 'e' toh)

Elayne= Egwene x 75% - Despite a childish crush on Rand manages to do some intelligent things

Birgitte= Lan with breasts

Any Aes sedai= Egwene x(75%+(10% per # of idiosyncracies)

Potentially a borderline personality leaning on the neurotic side.

Ah umm ever heard of the taint? Not to mention he has a madman in his head.

Not sure if you were trying to be funny or serious http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif.

For me Egwene is more irritating than Nynaeve though http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif.
I don't think Birgitte is just like Lan.
BTW,I am a great WoT fan http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif.

I have to totally disagree with your Aviendha breakdown. I don't that there is anything remotely irrational about Ji'e'toh. It's like Jordan's interpretation of bushido, which is the ultimate expression of human will and intellect dominating our bestial animal natures.

Oh Joy ANOTHER Jordan topic.

And the problem with that is??? Obviously people want to talk about one of the most popular fantasy series around. No one is forcing you to read it.

If this was another Martin vs Jordan vs goodkind vs eddings you might have a valid point as there are lots of other threads covering that.I don't see any other threads covering the characters personalities in WoT though.

Half serious or not you sook! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/wink.gif

Pants to you my friend!

True this is different enough from all the other Jordan topics.

Well I am arguably one of the biggest Jordan fans around. And I agree with your orginal assessment Fitz. Much as I love WoT, don't people read anything else? Or have anything else to complain about? It does get a bit discouraging at times.
