Well, because I gave it to allanon I couldn't read it soon, but I have some impressions from the book.
I think that the books is very slow and that is a weak word for the facts! But I find him quite interesting with a big potential to take over of my 4th - Terry Brooks. I am near at p.150 in the English edition (930 p.) and I cannot wait to see Seoman in action.
So any consolatories? Will the book become more interesting? Or it's just all that slow?:(

Well you're further in than i am, Elan - I read about 40 pages of it recently, and i have to say it's just too slow for my tastes. I will pick it up again at some point, because i LOVED Otherland, but for now it's gone back on the shelf.

Keep reading , it does get alot better . I almost put it down myself but found that after about the 150 page mark the pace picked up and was a fantastic read !

I agree. Dragonbone chair has a very slow start but really picks up towards the last third. Of the other books in the series - it has a few ups and downs, but the end sequence is unmissable. So keep on reading.

It's been a few years since I read it, but I recall that the first couple hundred pages were slow (but extremely engaging and well written :) ). It definitely picks up from there and the second book, Stone of Farewell, was absolutely amazing! Keep going!!!

I finished Stone of Farewell about a fortnight ago. It's better than the first book I thought, but still rather long winded.I feel that quite a lot of unecessary details are included.
I intend to persevere though, with rest of the four book trilogy :) because of all the good reviews it's had.

I can't see how The Dragonbone Chair can be any slower then the Wheel of Time, which I am getting through quite easily. I am making this series the next on my list. I actually happened to start the first couple of pages the other night and thought the stuff about Nibbes (?) was creative.
I don't know about Otherland, though. It seems a little too farfetch'd for my tastes.

I also felt it was very, very slow going. It doesn't help that I am merely annoyed by Simon. i don't find him engaging in the least. I did finish Stone of Farewell, which I thought was a better book, and have barely started on part 1 of the last book.
I cannot say that I love what I have read thus far, but I can understand why others rate these books highly. They are not quite my cup of tea, and although I will finish them, I am not in any huge rush. *s*

Thank you Nero, for stealing my avatar I've had since this new board was introduced.
Anyway, I think the book is perfect.
It works for you or it doesn't. If it's battle/action you're seeking, it eventually happens and in a big way.

I'll join the vast majority in saying - stick with it! It's a great series, although I also found it a little slow at times. Most definitely worth it, though. Tad Williams can be prone to using a few more words than necessary, but he is also a master of the English language - some phrases and images will leave you gasping!
