Alright. Okay. Yep.
Righty, picture this. You make Dog food for a living. You get paid well. You work well enough, though your not much of a talker. Your standing there, dropping lids into a can feeder.
Right.
So, one of the bosses comes up to you and tells you your not enthusiastic enough. Is it wrong to start laughing, because I felt that it was the appropriate response, though my 'superior' seemed to disagree. I don't know. I feel lost at the moment and need some sort of response to my quandry. Was I wrong? Should I be enthusiastic about making dog food?
Lost.

Have you ever seen the movie "Office Space?" You need to be enthusiastic and express yourself, no matter what the job! Show "flair" at work! Be proud of those cans that you had a part in filling and getting to the stores for doggy edification! :D
In all seriousness, though, I would have laughed, too!
(And check out that movie, because it is hysterical!)

I was at work today and I had fifteen pieces of flair on, granted all of them were meat that had splattered me, but...
Stephen Root is a comic genius.

I also have been told before by my boss that I wasn't enthusiastic enough about a stupid low-paying job. (Although it wasn't quite as boring as yours, no offense.)
Like what, we're supposed to like going to work? I thought people worked to make money (sometimes pathetically small amounts). Some bosses who are like that, I just can't understand. It's kind of scary when you realize that they really are enthusiastic about the work (especially if it's making dog food, that's just weird). Because there's really no need to be enthusiastic when it comes to certain types of work.
I guess it would make the time go by faster, but hey we're all only human. Dropping lids into a can feeder is not thrilling work, and I would be worried about your IQ level if you found it stimulating. :D

::shaking head:: Now...that makes no sense at all. If you were canning dog food in a customer-ridden environment, such an illogical request might (it's a stretch) seem a little reasonable. Who are you performing for, anyhow? The dog food? Does a scowl sour the food? harumph.
On the other hand...maybe your flair wasn't big enough <g> (think bigger chunks...it's all about attitude, here. ;) )

I have just managed to get myself together enough to post a reply here. I have been FOCL'ing all over the place.
Poor Cad is still shaking his head trying to see the joke - but I think that's HILARIOUS!!
I thought perhaps it was an Oz thing - but Ladijen got it too. :D :D
*still bursting into fits of hysterical laughter everytime she thinks about it again*

This is interesting. Are you sure he didn't mean it in jest? Hmmm... you're probably sure. Maybe you're boss has been listening to to many of those motivational speaker tapes. :D I understand though why you wouldn't want to smile in a dog foos factory. It doesn't sound very exciting. If it makes you feel better, I got laid off yesterday... or, given my notice. Sunday is my last day and they are taking advantage of it by dragging my last two days into loooooooooong ones.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Tomorrow I have a ten and half hour shift and then I'm done forever! :D Not so bad when you think about it.. well, but then there is that little thing called debt. It keeps me on my toes.
