I am new here and I am sorry if I repeat a question.

When I try to do a search of the forums, there is a section on the "advanced search" that says to string phrases together, use words like AND, NOT, OR. I've tried this but it pulls up messages with both words in it. Example...I wanted to search for a title of a book called "The Eyes of The Dragon". It pulled up all threads with The, Eyes, Dragon and so on. How can I only pull up exact phrases?

Lastly, I am so glad I found this site. I am glad that I started reading Fantasy and Science Fiction. This site has so much information.
Thanks.

To answer one question;
the customised title ("Last of the Barbarians" etc), is something you can change 10 days after you first registered.
One of the Moderators may be able to help with changing your name with a capitalisation of the first letter.

Legolas, I shall change the L for you to a capital. I'll need to find out about the search keywords query. You will remain a Junior Member until after your 30th post. Custom titles under your name will be activated for you to change after you have at least 10 posts and been a member at least 10 days. However, should you need one in the meantime just let me know and I can do this for you.

Welcome to SFFW!

I would really like an avatar, but when I try to "import" one from sf-fandom, where I have one already, I am told the images are too big. Does this site have some avatars from which to choose?

Well yes, we do have a size restriction on avatars, but you seem to have one here nonetheless. :)

Yes, thanks Erebus, Pants helped me out and reduced mine so I could use it.

Tisk, tisk spamming abot an avatar just to build post totals... ;) ;) Do they allow that sort of stuff over at sf-fandom, well I think not! :D :D

Welcome aboard....

I think that to search for the full title you need to put the phrase in apostrophes, ie:

"The Eyes of the Dragon".

That's how it works on the Google search engine for everyday stuff, it may also apply to the search engine here.
(But I have not yet tried it!)

Welcome :)

Hi I'm a newbie.

I noticed a reply from Dag in the "Poems" thread that was applicable to Poems
My question is, does the same apply to short stories? Are they soon to be uploaded too?

I've submitted one this month and am itching and twitching all over :) I'm anxious to know whether it passes muster (this one is my first ever!)

I'm afraid that only 161 new book reviews, poems and short stories was included in the latest update (today) and of those only 17 were new short stories. Still have about 130 short stories waiting to be processed, but rest assure we'll get to them eventually...
