A chapter was inadvertently left out of Golden Fool when it was published in Australia. The chapter labeled 16 is actually chapter 17.
This situation is being corrected. As soon as I have details of what buyers should do, I will post them here.
Please, do not email me individually with questions about this. I promise that as soon as I have the answers, I will make a more complete post here.
Your patience and understanding are deeply appreciated. All of us are very distressed about this situation.
Sincerely,
Robin Hobb .
I actually noticed something strange when reading past the missing chapter but I didn't think an entire chapter was missing:(.
I just thought she decided not to mention a fight fitz got into.

Wow, that sucks. It will cost the publishing company (and Robin Hobb) no doubt - no wonder they are "very distressed". The question is - are they going to pulp what is now in the bookstores? Will they reprint it?
Caldazar, if you could keep us posted that would be great. I haven't yet bought this book, but was just about to. I think I may hold off for a little while now!

I'm curious is there a market for such books with obvious errors among collectors like there is with stamp collectors where some stamps with errors are even more valuable than those that are as they should be?

I suppose if they end up pulping that print run, it may be the case. Not for a number of years though, surely.
How does the "wrong chapter 16" start? I want to make sure that if I ever find this book on special, I'm able to check that I'm buying the "proper" version.

A chapter is indeed missing from the Australian edition of Golden Fool. As a result, all stock (in the UK and in Australia) is being recalled and pulped, all orders are being frozen. The missing chapter is being set at the printers at this very minute and will be incorporated into a revised version, making sure all the page
numbers and later chapter numbers roll on. The official publication date will be moved from 7th to 21st October here and in Australia. We will have corrected bound stock in by 12th October. Our sales force and customers all over the world are being made aware of the problem. No one is supposed to have sold any stock yet (though I suspect
this error must have been picked up because of an early, unofficial sales)
but we are making sure everyone knows that if they have an erroneous copy, we
will of course replace with a corrected one as soon as we have them.
NB. The official sale date was supposed to be October 7. (This coming Monday.) The defective books slipped out in early sales.

That's an interesting one. Would that also apply to the bookclub editions, I wonder?
Lots of red faces at the publishers. I have a copy coming from Amazon too - wonder if they know?

Caldazar - I've merged your ''New Release Date'' thread into this one, so that everyone's thoughts are in the one place.
This is my first ever 'merge' - so if anything looks terribly wrong, please tell me, someone!! :)
This is probably as good a place as any to pose a quick question: I have read Hobb's ''liveship'' tri - do i need to read the Assassin bks first, if i want to read this new trilogy???
