Acclaimed british author Douglas Adams, author of the comedic Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, died of a sudden heart attack yesterday morning in Santa Barbera, according to spokewoman Sophie Astin. He was only 49.

Adams became a household name in Britain after 'Hitchhikers' was adapted and broadcast as a television series by the BBC.

I didn't like the book, but it's one less good author, which is never a good thing. UK fandom will miss him.

Hitchhiker's was a very funny and enjoyable book, however at no time did it ridicule the sci/fi genre, unlike other books of this type. It is a very sad day, and my thoughts go out to his wife and child.

Damn. I just borrow out Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy on friday. I haven't started reading it yet. This is gonna put a real depressing mood over the book.

I'm very sad that one of my favorite authors has died. I was just thumbing through the Hitchhikers books a few days ago too. He will be remembered fondly by myself and everyone else he's ever made laugh out loud in a quiet room (I get more weird looks reading his books in public places than any other author!).

He will be missed. May Ford Prefect, Arthur Dent and Zaphod live on forever, carrying on his message of humor.

Don't forget your towel.

I think Mr. Adams would say SO LONG AND THANKS FOR ALL THE FISH.

RIP
