For the last 6 weeks I have been reading The Wheel Of Time. I have just read books One through Six back to back. Whew! Anyway, I really needed a break from Jordan. Don't get me wrong, for the most part I am enjoying WOT, but jordan has been getting really long winded in the last two books.

I decided that I needed to put WOT down for a while and read something else.

I ended up reading DRAGONDOOM BY Dennis L. McKiernan .

I really enjoyed this book. It was a light read, nothing over complicated. Just a straight forward story from his Mithgar series.
It had some great action sequences and a few pleasant suprises that I didnt expect.

Overall I found the book to be very entertaining. If your looking for a quick (I read it in less than two days) and an overall fun book, and most important a break from the same old same old give this a try.

Has anyone else read this?
I would love to hear your thoughts about it.

Dragondoom is one of my favorite fantasy books of all time, but I wouldn't call it light. It was very dark and introspective, so, IMO, it was just the opposite. It's also the only thing I've ever read by McKiernan, btw.

On the subject, is there a cure to keep your mind of the wot series besides Dune, and ASOFI?

Have opposite problem to you, AW - i just read books 1 to 8 back to back (nearly finished 8, anyway) - i want to stop reading for a bit so that i don't finish book 9 tooooo long before 10 comes out - but i can't! Everytime i put WoT down, i pick it straight up again.

Must...escape............Jordan................... ............trap

Quick question:

What is ASOFI? The only fantasy novel I can think of that would fit would be A song of Ice and Fire? If so, why is it every time I see it as ASOFI and not ASOIF? or ASOIAF?
