This is my first thread so bare with me if i make any mistakes. I'm in the middle of re-reading the Sword of Truth series and I was interested in what everyone else thought of him. Personally I think that the first three books were great but that it all kind of went downhill from there.

In general, most people here don't care for his "writing" to put it lightly, myself very much included. Here are some older topics where folks have had their say:

Ayone else despise Goodkind (http://www.sffworld.org/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=3641&highlight=Terry+Goodkind)

Thats very reassuring. It is good to know that I'm not alone in that opinion, the only person Ive discussed it with was very defensive of Goodkind. Except of course for the last one, I havent read it yet, but even he complained about that one.

I'm pretty much of the same opinion as you, Danen. Books 1 and 2 of the SoT series were really good, and book 3 was okay, but after that the series lost direction and focus. I only made it about halfway through Faith of the Fallen and then just gave up in boredom and disgust.

Richard, like Rand and many of the characters from the WoT series, because very very irritating after a couple books.

Too bad. Pretty interesting world.

personally I think you have to read the books ignorantly, trying to ignore his ideas that make no sense at all

Then why bother reading them at all?

Because once you get past that he actually writes fairly well
