In isshin ryu karate, traditionally we do Sanchin topless... so... well the girls hafta wear good sports bras for that part of their black blet test and training... We get punched and smashed in the thighs, calves, traps, lats, dels, ABS... etc. :(

Tatsu shimabuki, o isshin ryu ?????????
My Japanese is poor, are you asking me what style I do? Go-Ju ryu.
So whats with all the karate people on SFFworld? And people of high ranks at that...? Hmmm....
I'm not a high belt, only green, did kung fu when young, then read lots, no the same as real training I do now.
I recently found out that one of our founders Miyagi Sensei dreamt a very vivid dream where a man appeared and taught him a kata, lucid dreamer see, like me.

Used to use both of those Pantalimon
My sensei was James Rousseau, his sensei was Higeonna (sp)
I met sensei Higeonna as he came to our dojo once, he was over doing some demonstrations and exhibitions etc.

James Rousseau, I know of him, you do Go-Ju?
My Sensi is Bob Honiball, I think he was taught be Gary (the mad half mori (spelling) Spears, some tough South African and Sensi erha or something (spelt wrong) he's also trained under Morio Higaonna in Japan.

*mentally thinks of makiwara training*
Ouch. If I ever get back into martial arts I'm going with Aikido.
Actually Pantalimon a lot of the styles start with a master having some kind of enlightened vision. Most recent one I've heard of was Morihei Uechiba (aikido founder).
I find the history of the styles at least as interesting as the styles themselves.

Yes I did Goju-ryu for about 3 years , small world.
I also remember a mad south african instructer came over for a few weeks. Well built white dude with a beard. (although this was over 14 years ago!)
He was a 5th Dan then.
I also did Tiger and Crane combo kung-fu and Muay Thai for a few years apiece.
