I was born and raised within three miles of the WTC. The 9/11 travesty has affected me very deeply and I have cried a great deal. The victims were diverse in all respects, but mostly young and filled with a longing for life. If you are a writer, like me, I think it is necessary, especially now, to give our readers some new thoughts so that they can escape the terrors inflicted by people who have nothing better to do than cause harm and destruction. Why don't we all take an oath to produce enjoyable, ispirational fiction and concentrate less on things that suggest horror and dread. What do you think? "by people who have nothing better to do than cause harm and destruction."
You think they woke up one morning and said "Hey I reckon bombing the WTC would be fun". I know it's probably hard for you to understand the point of view of the enemy, you being so close to the actual event, but please try.
It's a round world last time I heard.

I'll have to play bad guy here and ask that we keep this discussion to a Science Fiction theme please. We had previous topics in the General section about the WTC bombings etc. which our Administrator has since closed as a result of the heated anger and emotion they bring.
SFFWorld is not the place for these sort of discussions, I'm afraid. I hope you understand. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif
Penumbra, I have to agree with you about reading as a distraction. Science Fiction and Fantasy has always been a means to escape the real world for a while, and I truly hope that authors of the genre continue to provide us with the vehicles to do just that.(Myself included!)
