I'm currently reading 'The Curse of Chalion' by Lois McMaster Bujold... A real surprise. I never read anything by her, but this is very good so far ( I'm at 200 pages right now). Has anyone else read this book? The characters really come alive and it has an very interesting story to tell.
Nice to find you can still be surprised by some writers... I heartily recommend this book to anyone who likes good fantasy.

I read it because I have enjoyed Bujolds SciFi books (though I am more of a fantasy reader). I don't think The Curse of Chalion is as good as her scifi which means it is merely very good.
It is actually comparable to Transformation by Berg which I have just finished. Comparable in both quality (good but not great) and plot (generally).

I liked Curse, found it at the beach in hardcover for less than 5 bucks. The first in bergs series I thought was very good, got a little more mediocre as the series expanded.

I found Curse of Chalion to be a very well written and interesting book, and just as good as Bujold's scifi work. I'll have to disagree with CGW in the comparison between this book and Transformantion. I think CoC is much better written than Transformation. I don't see many similarities between the two books at all. The characters in CoC are much better developed than Transformation, and the world building has more content and style, IMO.
