Larry Niven Help

Hi.

I am trying to track down all of Larry Niven's fantasy fiction that deals with his character Warlock. I would have asked this in the Fantasy forum but figured more Larry Niven fans would be found here. http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I have: The Magic Goes Away and The Burning City. As well as the short stories: Not Long Before the End and What Good is a Glass Dagger.

I am aware that there is a book called The Magic May Return but do not have it yet. Is there any other stories or novels out there? Or are these all?

Thanks for any assistance you can provide,
some newbie

Hi, jiels! That's the only ones I know about, but I haven't searched very hard. There are other stories from that era, but if you read Glass Dagger in Playgrounds of the Mind, then you have read them. How was Burning City? I haven't picked it up yet.
Thanks!

Hi Karljah,

I have tried searching for info about this but I keep coming up with tons and tons of Ringworld data. Not that that's a bad thing, it's just not what I am looking for.

Thanks for the help! http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

Well, I never know what to say when someone asks me about a book, movie, show etc. But I must say that I liked The Burning City. I read it in 2 days and got annoyed when I had to put it down. I don't want to give the book away so I'll just mentions some general info. The book is divided into 2 parts, 2 stories that invlove the same character. Unfortunately, there is no Warlock or other characters from his other fiction, but Larry and Jerry manage to create a new cast that satisfies.

One thing I do like is that the main character undergoes significant character growth and is a lot different at the end of the book then he was at the beginning. It seems to be set a little after the events in The Magic Goes Away, but I'm not too sure of it.

And like much of Larry and Jerry's fiction they have created a really different and original locale to set their book. They do a really good job of describing the Burning City and reinforcing it's uniqueness. Does that last sentence make sense?

Anyways, if you read it, let me know what you thought. I am always curious to see if other people share the same views that I do.

Your synopses makes perfect sense, b/c that's what I like about Niven and Pournelle! Thanks, b/c now I will actually go and get it! I have two "authors" that I read for fantasy, now. Fritz Leiber's "Lanckmar" series, and all of the "Magic Goes Away" series, it's the most original that I have come across! (See all the hoopla about Tolkein in the Fantasy discussion boards!) Iknow Leiber is old, but some books never go outof style!
