Breakthrough SF Author of the Year

O.K. so it's only November and someone could have a dazzling novel in the next 8 weeks, but that's not the point. The point is, what author do you think has appeared in the past year on sf reader radar screens like a squadron of B-52s?

My nominee: John Ringo

Between his "March" books with Weber and Gust Front he was at least partly responsible for my three favorite books of the year and I as far as I can tell, he's only published one other (Gust Front was #2 in a new series starting with A Hymn Before Battle of last year)

(Hey moderators, think you could put a good word in to get sffworld.com to get an interview with him? Or maybe an interview whomever seems to draw the most interest with this thread?)

I have to admit to not reading much sf and also I keep giong on and on about the guy, but seriously Ian Reynolds with Chasm City is a must read. I reviewed the book a while ago if you want a more detailed run down and explination of the book. But I reckon this guy to be a serious contender for the crown.

Now to be controversial, http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/biggrin.gif one of the reasons I like the guy so much is that he writes good characters. People such as Larry Niven just leave me feeling cold as they tend to get carried away by their own cleverness. But thats my view.

If anyone can tell me of someone else with a simliair style in the genre then I would be v.grateful.
