So how old was everyone when the first got into George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series? I was 17.

Never read it nor will I start until the series is finished, no matter how good it is supposed to be.

I am of the same mind. I won't touch it until it's finished. Then again I might get tempted to read just the first book as a teaser.

Ditto.
I did see an animated movie a long time ago called "Fire and Ice", but have no idea if the two are connected.

I've never read it either, but I do plan to eventually, after everything I've heard about it.

I'm guessing the purpose of this post has something to do with some of the more graphic scenes in the novels, and determining what level of maturity a person should reach before being allowed to read these books (otherwise why not just ask for some other unit of measurement - How tall were you when you read Lord of the Rings?).
IMO, age isn't always a reflection of ones maturity. Add to that cultural differences between all the members on the board, and age pretty much becomes irrelevant (although I'm sure that when all cultural/individual differences are taken into account, there is a minimum age at which one shouldn't be reading this book._

To answer the question though (it may at least give us some interesting statistics on board members) I was 20 when I first read these books. I gave them to my younger sister to read, she was 15 at the time.

Started reading Game Of Thrones last week. Top notch thus far.

BTW, I'm 20, but I didn't start reading fantasy properly until about four years ago. Since then, I've read all of Feist, Tolkien, some King and all of Jordan.
