Hi, all,
Back in the mid-80's, I read a book that I am now seeking; I'm hoping someone here may have it and can tell me the author and title.
Here's a short description of the story:
Scientist saves soldier from near certain death in battle by converting him to mostly silicon, although he looks and feels totally still human. Scientist is killed and soldier goes to find out what happened. In searching the lab, he finds an access to another dimension, where the people are being terrorized by this monster that feeds on carbon life forms. Soldier meets and falls in love with a native and, when they're under attack from the monster (because he's now mostly silicon and the scientist had given him weapons to fight the monster (of course soldier only becomes aware of this AFTER he reaches the new world)), the solider fights the monster and wins.
Ah. Enough I suppose for anyone who's read it to at least recognize it.
Thanks in advance!
