Although Williams talks about the alternate life forms etc at the end of the book no mention was given to Beezles seeming intelligence. I found this hard to accpet as by the posts on the other AI strand Beezle seems to fit many of the prequisites for AI. And at what point does AI pass into the realm of being a sentient being?

I don't think the story of Otherland really focused on A.I.'s, espically in the case of Beezle. I think Beezle really was just a humorous side character. The focus was really on the world of Otherland.

Plus, he was a Agent. While he met many of the criteria for AI's, doesn't mean he was. Even in these days, we have games that seemingly act intelligent, but are not.
