Is there anyone who can tell me if there are other ways to not write the necessary scene besides using the "god from the machine" device invented by the greeks?

you could always go the other way- why is everyone obsessed with happy endings? Let the bad thing happen. Only problem is if you've already written the rest of the book and it's in the middle somewhere
