I am looking for a great new fantasy author who has published three or less books thus far? I already know about Jacquline Carey and Farland. Who else?

Mieville, Mieville, Mieville... now I've said it for everyone else here.
Also check out David Coe... not bad at all.
Also avoid David Newcomb... he is Goodkind clone (and a very poor one at that).

You'll find some great new fantasy novels from new writers HERE (http://www.equilibriumbooks.com/fantasy.htm), if you're interested. There's a selection of trade softcovers and even some great value, downloadable ebooks. Read the previews and enjoy. :)

Erebus is right. Many of us here are published authors and we all hope that we will one day be thought of as one of those 'great new writers'. Check out the official reviews on this site and maybe you will find something interesting!

Sean Russell's "Swans' War" series. The first book was great, the second, not so great, but gave me a sense of talent flailing rather than no talent. I'll definitely pick up the next volume.

All of these people have written three or less novels?

Erebus - The books on that site certainly cost an arm and a leg. My idea or regular price is $8-9. Not that I am complaining, I guess one has to pay a lot to discover great new authors.

Those prices are in Australian dollars by the way, so if you're in the US, you can just about half them to get the USD$ amount, or reduce them by about two thirds for pounds stirling if you're in the UK. So, they're actually quite reasonably priced really, especially considering that they are all quality, trade softcovers and not mass market paperbacks that fall apart after the first read. :)

Erebus: is it possible for you to put a note next to the book prices that they are in australian dollars? I too thought they were expensive, not realizing that. maybe you could list three different prices in three different currencies?

I have the AUD$ reference alongside all prices, except those that are listed as USD$ for the download products etc. The notes on the site say all prices are in Australian Dollars unless stated otherwise. When Items are put into the shopping cart there is a line of bold text that also says All Prices Are In Australian Dollars, and I have the same notices on the Mail Order form. I would have thought any more references an insult to our customers' intelligence. ;) However, since it does seem to be a problem I shall have a look at alternative methods of getting this point across. Thanks for the feedback.
