What do you think about this saga of fantasy novels? I love it.

I really like the card game, for whatever that's worth.

Similarly, jb, I didn't know there was a book/s, but my eldest lad (aged 12) has recently got a set of cards and is loving it.

The only one I've read was quite old, and I doubt part of the saga... It was really pretty good. Formulaic with a magic system drawn from the card game, but otherwise a pretty good story. Not good enough that I've read any more, but not so bad that I would never consider doing so...

I read this one magic book, chains of something. I thought it was really good, especially being a book that was the result of an author trying to elaborate on an already set idea without killing the original characters, events, etc.. I like the card game too, though it's been some months since I've played.

Thre is a whole set of books that go a long with the card games. The books feature some of hte best authors that I have ever seen including J Robert King and Jeff Grubb. There are thirty-two total divided into two generaitons. The second generation is further divided in cycles. The Magic: The Gathering books are:
Arena
Wispering Winds
Shattered Chains
Final Sacrifice
The cursed land
The Progical Sorcer
Ashes of Sun
Song of Time
And Peace Shall Sleep
Dark Legacy
Distant Planes
Tapestries
The Thran
Brother's War
Planeswalker
Bloodlines
Gathering Dark
Eternal Ice
Shattered Chains
Colors of Magic
Mercadian Masques
Nemesis
Prophecy
Apocolypse
Johan
Jedit
Odossey
Torment
Judement
Hazeon
Areana through Tapestries are the first generton novels and are a bit hard to find the rest are the second generation. I encourage anyone that has ever played the games to look into the books, their are excellent and tell the storyline behind the games. There is even a Magic: The Gathering home page(s) at:

The Magic the Gathering book catalog is at: http://www.wizards.com/catalog/index.asp?s=brand,magic
