Who are your favourite new authors who have published in novel form for the first time in 2000/2001/2002?
For me, it would probably have to be Alastair Reynolds. Revelation Space is a fabulous addition to the growing canon of British space opera. Reynolds has created an interesting, gritty universe and peopled it with some memorable characters.

New authors? Man, I'm still trying to catch up my reading on last century's authors!

Boy, that Noughties term was new to me! But I second the opinion of Valeyard - I still have a huge stack of yet to be read books that were all published by authors who started prior to 2000. Doesn't mean the books were published then or after though. I just haven't had the time to look for new stuff.

As famous critic Cyril Connolly said, 'the first test of a successful novel is to survive a decade'.
Besides as valeyard said there's a lot of old books i want to read first.
But ken macleod's cosmonaut keep looks pretty good (it's on my to read pile, but the prologue seems well written- i know i can't judge the rest of the book by that, but i'll post again when i've read or attempted to read the book).
