Lois McMaster Bujold

I've heard alot about her and her books, so I thought I would try reading her. The only problem is that her series seem a bit complicated and I can't understand which would be the first book. Could someone suggest a good book to start from or at least the order of the books?

I am pretty sure we had a thread on McMaster Bujold.

Anyways, I was in the same boat as you are. I think in her Miles series, that the best book to start off with is Cordelia's Honor. That book compromises of two books, Barrayar, and Shards of Honor.

It seems to be the best book to start off with, after that, you should just follow the publication order. Or, at least, that's how I plan too.

Shards of Honor
Barrayar
The Warrior's Apprentice
Ethan of Athos
Brothers in Arms
Borders of Infinity
The Vor Game
Mirror Dance
Cetaganda
Memory
Komarr
A Civil Campaign

We did have a thread. Try looking up the Space Opera thread, the best sf books thread or even the recommendation threads for more details!

Yes, Shards of Honor is the one to start with.

Keyoke - there's also Diplomatic Immunity to add to the end of your list - not bad, but not one of the best! - which also has references to Falling Free and the quaddies. Falling Free is an early Bujold book, doesn't use Miles at all (happening a few hundred years earlier I think) but is sort-of connected.
