Jurassic Park...

what's your take on it? in my opinion it's the best book i've ever read, and it's incredibly more scientific compared to the movie (In fact the book makes the movie look like a flat piece of stale bread, even though the movie was great... not so sure about the sequels though). also, the book has really great scene not in the film (and some were put into the 2 sequels from just this novel) such as a river chase scene were lex, tim, and grant are in a river raft when the t-rex chases after them by 'swimming' in the water. there is also an 'aviary' scene similar in design as the one in JP3... soo many other great things as well.

the book also has different characters die that didn't die in the movie and vice versa. the coolest example is that in the book, hammond is actually a real jerk and gets killed by a specific dino (hey i don't want to spoil it all).

so who's read Jurassic Park? what do you like about it? and for those who haven't, what are you waiting for!? http://www.sffworld.com/ubb/smile.gif

I quite liked the book, but it's been ages since i read it.
It wasn't too deep, and read very quickly.
And it had a totally different (ish) plot to the film.
Good if u want a no-brainer.

BTW the lost world book, again is much better than the film.

Haven't read the book. It's popularity and all the hype around it just turned me off it. Plus the movie was good for seeing the stunning new levels that CGI had reached, but apart from that it's pretty shitty. Those kids annoyed the crap out of me. As for the sequels, well, Lost World is on my "worst movies of all time" list.

I really liked the first Jurassic Park by Crichton. The film was okay.

I read the sequel The Lost World and thought it was one of the least inspired pieces of fiction I ever read. It seemed pretty clear that Crichton rehashed much of the original novel, rushed it since the original film brought in super-gonzo$$$. I think it took all of an hour and half for me to read that book, unfortunately that is lost time I will never regarin.
