I have read this series, but, like Modesitt Recluses series always seems to grab my eye. It's a series I've always wanted to read, but, I've always had my doubts.. I dont know what to expect, or if it's up my alley.

Any thoughts? I noticed that this title (The first one at least) appeared on some folks Best Scifi lists.

Hmmm, can't really comment since I've only read book 4 of the series. However, what I've picked up from the book looks good, an interesting space-opera.

I'm still looking to complete the set.

On an interesting note, here's a review of book 8, the conclusion of the series:

Good series, right up till the end when I felt let down by Book 8.

The cover has the blurb 'where Shogun meets Blade Runner'.

Actually it's not as bad as it sounds - the books deserve more credit.

I've read one of the series. It wasn't awesome but it was good. There was a scene in NYC(or where the old nyc was). Wall Street is mentioned. Oh ands most people think that history happened differently than it did in our time line. The Chinese conqured the Roman Empire in the 2nd century is what is taught in history.
