Pendragon cycle - worth a read?

I am after an intelligent epic. And the first three books of the Pentdragon cycle looked interesting.

Just wondered what you thought of these? or if there was anything else that you personally would recommend over these books. (Only completed fantasy though).

Lastly - if there a fair amount of magic in the Pentdragon books?

Thanks!

The first three are good but I could not finish the fourth. Very little magic.

I've read the first two, and I have heard from others that only part 3 is also interesting. The next two are about the grail quest.

I like them a lot sofar, this is the work Lawhead is famous for and his Merlin is an impressive character. I don't care for the overt Christian angle though, I imagine Merlin and Taliesin as Druids, and certainly not as the very opposite. This strong Christian influence is in all of Lawhead's books btw.

Both Taliesin and Merlin I rate above average, 7,5 out of 10 :)

One of the best Arthurian series out there, but Stewart and James Donaldson are better.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Lawhead trilogy, read it years ago. I especially liked the depiction of Merlin as a sort of suffering servant-type. The overt Chrstian element was okay by me.
I have books 4 and 5 lined up to read.
